From bondage to prayer

From bondage to prayer

From bondage to prayer

This was during my first trip to Mexico, early 2007.  We went to the Mazahua Valley and stayed with Mazahua Valley Ministries.  Great people – wonderful to stay there.

Early one morning this elderly man came to the mission complex to pray.  As I recall it, 2-3 times a week or more often this is what he did – to pray.  Earlier in his life there was bondage and darkness that I wont specify here – but he had moved out of that and turned to prayer.

It was a difficult picture to take because although he walked very, very slowly – I could not communicate with him that I wanted to take a picture of him.  It is also tricky in strong sunlight to deal with those sharp shadows.  I am fairly pleased with the outcome.  It captures the setting well, his face contains a story – and you can see it even as there is dark shadow covering most of his forehead.  The cactus and the background fit in well.

This picture is taken on Kodak E200 slide, probably F16 1/125.
